The scarcest resource in enterprise AI, on this telling, is not compute — it is context. In a TechRadar interview, Atlassian's AI leadership made the case that context and collaboration, rather than raw model capability, are what will unlock business success as AI spreads deeper into everyday work.
"Unleashing the power of the team" remains the company's stated mission, and its AI chiefs framed the technology as the delivery mechanism for it. In their view, the future of collaboration is cross-team by design, powered by AI, with the largest gains accruing to organizations that wire AI into how groups actually work together.
The positioning is deliberate. Where much of the market sells AI as a personal assistant, Atlassian's executives place the differentiator in shared context — the work and information that accumulate inside collaboration platforms. An AI system that grasps the environment a team operates in, the argument runs, produces output that fits the organization rather than generic answers. That reframes the competitive question for software vendors: the prize is not fielding the cleverest model, but sitting closest to the context teams generate.
For AI compute buyers and investors, the framing is a reminder that demand signals do not originate only in model labs.
