Brentford Manager Confident Yoane Wissa Will Stay Amid Transfer Speculations

Brentford manager Keith Andrews expresses confidence that Yoane Wissa will remain at the club despite transfer interest and recent absences.

Brentford manager Keith Andrews has expressed his firm belief that Yoane Wissa will stay with the club as the summer transfer window draws to a close. Despite interest from Newcastle United, who have had two bids rejected for the 28-year-old forward, Andrews remains optimistic about Wissa's future at Brentford.

Transfer Speculations and Wissa's Absence

Newcastle's latest offer for Wissa was reportedly worth up to £40 million. However, Brentford has stood firm in their valuation of the player. Wissa's recent actions, including removing all references to Brentford from his Instagram account, have fueled transfer rumors. Additionally, he missed the Bees' opening Premier League matches against Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa but has since returned to training.

Andrews' Stance on Wissa's Future

Andrews confirmed that Wissa will not feature in Brentford's Carabao Cup second-round tie against Bournemouth. However, he emphasized that there has been no significant movement regarding Wissa's transfer and expects him to remain at the club.

"What goes on is going on at every single club I imagine, up and down the land, the disruptive nature of it. But the focus is on the group tomorrow," Andrews stated. "So, Yoane won't be involved. But as far as I'm concerned, there's been no movement in any way and fully expect Yoane to be here come next Tuesday."

Wissa's Impact and Career at Brentford

Wissa has been a key player for Brentford since joining the club four years ago, scoring 49 goals in 149 appearances. His performance last season, in particular, has made him a sought-after talent in the Premier League. Andrews acknowledged the natural interest in Wissa given his goal-scoring record and overall contribution to the team.

"I knew there was, or would be, interest," Andrews added. "Naturally, when you score that amount of Premier League goals and play as well as he did last season in particular. He's built his career at this football club over the last four years where he's grown in stature, presence. I'm not surprised by it."

Conclusion

As the transfer window nears its end, Brentford fans will be hoping that Wissa remains a part of their squad for the upcoming season. With Andrews' confidence and the club's firm stance, it appears likely that Wissa will continue to don the Brentford jersey.
