Lamine Yamal Faces Investigation Over Dwarfism Controversy at Birthday Party
Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal is under investigation for allegedly hiring people with dwarfism as entertainers at his 18th birthday party, sparking a legal and ethical debate.

Spain's Ministry of Social Rights has initiated an investigation into Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal following allegations that he hired individuals with dwarfism as entertainers at his 18th birthday party. The event took place on Sunday at a rented property in Olivella, a small town located 50 kilometers northwest of Barcelona. The party was attended by YouTubers, influencers, and several of Yamal's Barcelona teammates.
The Association of People with Achondroplasia and other Skeletal Dysplasias in Spain (ADEE) has condemned the act, labeling it as "unacceptable in the 21st century." The ADEE has filed a formal complaint, prompting the Ministry of Social Rights to request the prosecutor's office to investigate whether the law was violated and if the rights of people with disabilities were compromised.
In a statement, the ADEE emphasized that such actions "perpetuate stereotypes, fuel discrimination, and undermine the image and rights" of people with disabilities. They further stated that these practices violate both current legislation and the fundamental ethical values of an egalitarian and respectful society.
However, Spanish radio station RAC1 aired an interview with an individual claiming to be one of the entertainers present at the party. The entertainer, who chose to remain anonymous, defended Yamal, stating, "No one disrespected us, we worked in peace. We're normal people, who do what we want, in an absolutely legal way." The performer added that the show lasted one hour, after which the entertainers joined the party, engaging in activities such as dancing, distributing drinks, and performing magic.
When approached for comment, a Barcelona spokesperson stated that the club "is not in a position to comment on an act that falls strictly within the private sphere." However, they added that their position would be reassessed once "concrete information" has been ascertained.
This incident has sparked a broader debate about the ethical implications of hiring individuals with disabilities for entertainment purposes, particularly in high-profile events. As the investigation unfolds, the football community and the public await further developments.
