Barcelona's Hansi Flick Faces UEFA Ban for Champions League Opener
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has been banned for the Champions League opener following UEFA's disciplinary action.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has been handed a one-match ban and fined £17,000 by UEFA for misconduct. This decision comes after Flick criticized several refereeing decisions during Barcelona's 4-3 Champions League semi-final second-leg defeat to Inter Milan in May, which resulted in a 7-6 aggregate loss for the Spanish club.
Assistant manager Marcus Sorg has also received the same punishment. The opening round of the Champions League is scheduled from 16 to 18 September, and Flick will miss this crucial match.
Hansi Flick, who was appointed as Barcelona's manager in June 2024, had a successful first season, winning La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup. However, his absence from the Champions League opener could pose challenges for the team.
In a separate decision, Barcelona forwards Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski have each been fined £4,300 for failing to comply with instructions from an anti-doping officer and not immediately reporting to a control post during the same game.
This incident adds to the pressure on Barcelona as they aim to make a strong start in the Champions League. The team will need to regroup and focus on their upcoming matches to maintain their competitive edge.
