Elisa Longo Borghini Secures Second Consecutive Victory at Women's Giro d'Italia
Elisa Longo Borghini triumphs again at the Women's Giro d'Italia, showcasing her endurance and strategic prowess in a thrilling finish.

A Triumph of Endurance and Strategy
Elisa Longo Borghini, representing UAE Team ADQ, has once again claimed victory at the Women's Giro d'Italia, marking her second consecutive win in this prestigious event. The Italian cyclist, who only took the race lead on the penultimate stage, finished fourth in the final stage but secured the overall victory by 18 seconds ahead of Marlen Reusser from Movistar.
The Final Stage Drama
The eighth and final stage, a challenging 134km route from Forli to Imola, was won by Liane Lippert of Movistar, who outpaced Anna van der Breggen in a sprint finish. Despite Reusser's effort to overtake Longo Borghini in the final stage, the four-second time bonus was insufficient to close the gap in the general classification.
Emotional Victory
"I'm lost for words. This Giro was intense, packed with emotions, unforgettable," said Longo Borghini. She emphasized the highs and lows of cycling, stating that moments like these make all the sacrifices worthwhile.
Podium Finishers
Australian Sarah Gigante of AG Insurance-Soudal Team rounded out the podium, finishing third overall. The event not only highlighted the skill and determination of the cyclists but also the strategic depth of team tactics in professional cycling.
