Crystal Palace Bolsters Squad with Free Transfer of Argentine Goalkeeper Walter Benitez
Crystal Palace enhances their squad by signing Argentine goalkeeper Walter Benitez on a free transfer from PSV Eindhoven.

Crystal Palace have made a significant addition to their squad by securing the services of Argentine goalkeeper Walter Benitez on a free transfer from PSV Eindhoven. The 32-year-old will officially join the club on 1 July, following the expiration of his contract with PSV.
Benitez played a pivotal role in PSV's successful Eredivisie campaign, where they clinched the title by finishing a point ahead of Ajax. He was a consistent presence in the league, showcasing his reliability and skill between the posts. Additionally, Benitez started in 11 of PSV's 12 Champions League fixtures last season, helping the team reach the last 16, where they were ultimately defeated by Arsenal.
At Crystal Palace, Benitez will compete with current first-choice goalkeeper Dean Henderson and back-up Remi Matthews. This move is expected to bring further quality and experience to the team's goalkeeping department, as they prepare for a challenging 2025-26 season.
Palace chairman Steve Parish expressed his enthusiasm about the signing, stating, 'Walter is an excellent addition to our squad, bringing further quality, experience, and competition to our goalkeeping department alongside Dean and Remi. We look forward to welcoming Walter to South London next month as we continue our preparations towards what promises to be a busy season, competing on multiple fronts.'
This transfer highlights Crystal Palace's ambition to strengthen their squad and compete at the highest level in the Premier League and other competitions.
