Dunfermline Athletic Parts Ways with Michael Tidser After Short-Lived Tenure

Dunfermline Athletic has dismissed head coach Michael Tidser after only 60 days, following a series of disappointing results in the Scottish Championship.

Dunfermline Athletic has announced the departure of head coach Michael Tidser after a brief stint of just 60 days. Tidser, who was previously the player-manager at Kelty Hearts, joined Dunfermline in January 2024 following extensive negotiations over a compensation package.

During his tenure, Tidser managed the team through 11 matches, securing only three victories, with two in the Scottish Championship. His dismissal comes in the wake of a disappointing defeat against Raith Rovers in a Fife derby, which marked the culmination of a challenging period for the club.

Tidser's departure leaves Dunfermline in a precarious position, second from the bottom in the Championship table, just one point above the relegation play-off spot. The club now faces the critical task of stabilizing the team and avoiding relegation.

Interim coaching responsibilities have been assigned to assistant head coach Kevin McDonald, alongside John McLaughlan and first-team player David Wotherspoon. Club chairman and CEO David Cook expressed gratitude towards Tidser for his efforts and emphasized the urgency of appointing a new head coach to steer the club away from the threat of relegation.

In the broader context, Dunfermline's recent form has seen them gain only four points from their last two matches, while Airdrieonians, the league's bottom side, have closed the gap to six points. This intensifies the race for survival as the season progresses.

As Dunfermline Athletic navigates this transitional phase, the focus remains on reinforcing the squad and strategy to secure their position in the Scottish Championship.
