The funeral took place in their hometown of Gondomar, with Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk and defender Andy Robertson among those who paid their respects with floral tributes.

Return to Training The first group of players was initially scheduled to return last Friday, but the training was postponed due to the tragic event. Manager Arne Slot, who was part of the delegation that attended the funeral, is preparing the team for their first pre-season match against Preston North End on July 13.

Continued Tributes Tributes have been ongoing, with Liverpool Women players Grace Fisk and Gemma Bonner laying flowers outside Anfield. The Molineux stadium, where Jota previously played for Wolves, and the football academy in Gondomar named after him, have also seen an outpouring of respect and remembrance.
