Mason Jones Dominates in Spectacular UFC Paris Comeback
Welsh fighter Mason Jones stages an impressive comeback at UFC Paris, securing a decisive victory over Bolaji Oki.

Welsh MMA star Mason Jones delivered a thrilling performance at UFC Paris, overcoming an early knockdown to stop Bolaji Oki in the second round of their lightweight bout. The 30-year-old fighter showcased his resilience and tactical prowess, dominating on the ground to secure the win with a series of unanswered strikes.
Jones, who recently returned to the UFC after a three-year hiatus, has now notched two consecutive victories. His previous win came against Jeremy Stephens in May, marking a strong comeback to the promotion. Despite losing two of his first three UFC fights, Jones has returned with renewed confidence and skill.
Reflecting on his performance, Jones said, "I don't think I was hurt, I started slow. It happens, but I put it on him. He slowed down and I didn't. The wrestling was plan B. I like to cause damage - I would have liked to stay standing for a bit longer, but he wanted to wrestle so I showed him how to wrestle."
The victory solidifies Jones' position as a leading figure in Welsh MMA, following the retirement of Jack Shore last year. He is now at the forefront of Welsh representation in the UFC, alongside welterweight Oban Elliott and strawweight Cory McKenna.
In the main event, Nassourdine Imavov of France secured a unanimous decision victory over Brazil's Caio Borralho, calling for a title shot against Russian champion Khamzat Chimaev. Elsewhere on the card, Sam Patterson continued his impressive UFC debut streak with a first-round finish of Trey Waters, marking his fourth consecutive first-round victory.
The event also saw mixed results for other British fighters, with Rhys McKee suffering a third-round loss to Axel Sola, and Harry Hardwick unable to continue due to leg kicks from Kaue Fernandes. Irish fighter Shauna Bannon was also defeated, submitting to a rear-naked choke by Sam Hughes in the second round.
Jones' triumph at UFC Paris not only highlights his growth as a fighter but also cements his status as a rising star in the lightweight division. Fans eagerly anticipate his next move as he continues to make waves in the world of MMA.
