Cara Gainer Ties for Lead at Evian Championship: A Major Breakthrough
Cara Gainer shares the lead at the Evian Championship after a stellar third round, positioning herself for a potential first major win.

Cara Gainer has made headlines at the Evian Championship, tying for the lead after an impressive third-round performance. The 29-year-old Englishwoman shot a 64, bringing her total to 11-under, matching Australia's Gabriela Ruffels.
Gainer's round was marked by six birdies and a spectacular eagle on the seventh hole at the Evian Resort Golf Club in Evian-les-Bains, France. Reflecting on her performance, Gainer said, "I made a great par save on the first which really settled my nerves. My eagle putt was definitely a highlight of the day. I hit a great drive, a great hybrid into the green about 10ft and holed the putt. I have good feelings and good vibes in this amazing beautiful place."
Gainer's performance has put her in contention for her first major title. She is joined at the top by Gabriela Ruffels, who shot a 66 in the third round. Close behind are Jeeno Thitikul of Thailand, Minjee Lee, and Grace Kim, all at 10-under.
English amateur Lottie Woad also made a notable finish, sinking a 60ft birdie putt to end the day tied for 19th at six under.
The Evian Championship is the fourth of this season's five LPGA majors, and Gainer's performance has certainly added excitement to the tournament. With one round left, all eyes will be on Gainer as she aims to secure her first major victory.
