David Beckham Calls for Respect Amid Minnesota United's Social Media Jab
David Beckham urges Minnesota United to show respect after a controversial social media post following their 4-1 victory over Inter Miami.

David Beckham's star-studded Inter Miami faced a crushing 4-1 defeat against Minnesota United, but it was the latter's social media activity that caught Beckham's attention. The former England captain didn't hold back, directly addressing the issue in the comments section.
This loss marked the heaviest defeat for Inter Miami since Lionel Messi joined the club in July 2023. Despite Messi scoring in the second half, Inter Miami has now suffered four defeats in their last five matches across all competitions.
Following their victory, Minnesota United posted a photo on Instagram with the caption "Pink Phony Club," a nod to the color of Miami's kit and the Chappell Roan song Pink Pony Club. They also included a snapshot of the league table showing Minnesota moving above Inter.
Beckham, co-owner of Inter Miami, responded to the post, writing: "Show a little respect, be elegant in triumph." Minnesota, managed by Welshman Eric Ramsay, then posted a picture of a banner from the game that read: "History over hype, culture over cash," with the words "hype and cash" highlighted in pink.
Beckham, who has played for Manchester United, Real Madrid, and LA Galaxy, commented again, emphasizing: "Respect over everything."
Inter Miami won last season's Supporters' Shield for the best regular season record but lost in the first round of the play-offs. They hired former Argentina and Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano in November but were knocked out in the semi-finals of the Concacaf Champions Cup. Currently, they are fourth in the MLS Eastern Conference.
The team boasts former Barcelona stars Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba, making their recent struggles all the more surprising.
