GB Secures Bronze Medals in Wheelchair Tennis World Team Cup 2023
Great Britain clinched bronze medals in both men's and quad events at the 2023 Wheelchair Tennis World Team Cup in Turkey.

Great Britain has made a remarkable achievement by winning bronze medals in both the men's and quad events at the 2023 Wheelchair Tennis World Team Cup held in Turkey. This prestigious event, often compared to the Davis Cup or Billie Jean King Cup, showcases the pinnacle of team competition in wheelchair tennis.
In the men's bronze medal play-off, Ben Bartram and Dahnon Ward demonstrated exceptional skill by defeating their French counterparts, Geoffrey Jasiak and Gaetan Menguy, in their respective singles matches. Their victories were pivotal in securing the bronze for Great Britain.
The quad competition saw Greg Slade and Gary Cox rise to the occasion, overcoming Australia in a decisive doubles match to claim the bronze medal in Antalya. This victory was particularly sweet as it followed a tough semi-final loss to Brazil. Slade, reflecting on the achievement, expressed his pride and satisfaction: "I'm delighted to have come through, to win the bronze with the team and bounce back from the disappointment of the semi-final against Brazil."
In other categories, Japan emerged victorious in the men's final against Chile, while the Netherlands secured the quad title by defeating Brazil. The Netherlands also triumphed in the women's competition, where Great Britain was edged out by France in the bronze medal play-off.
Adding to the accolades, Great Britain's junior team of Ruben Harris and Lucas de Gouveia won gold, both securing their singles matches in the final against the USA.
This year's World Team Cup not only highlighted the incredible talent and resilience of the athletes but also underscored the growing prominence and competitive spirit of wheelchair tennis on the global stage.
