Barry Ferguson's Determination to Secure Rangers' Head Coach Role

Barry Ferguson remains hopeful of retaining his role as Rangers' head coach despite recent challenges, emphasizing the need for urgency and consistency.

Interim head coach Barry Ferguson continues to express his desire to lead Rangers beyond the current season, despite the team's recent struggles. In a tightly contested match against Celtic, Rangers took the lead through Cyriel Dessers' 25th goal of the season, but were ultimately denied victory by Adam Idah's second-half equalizer. This result extended Rangers' winless run at Ibrox to seven matches, a record they are eager to break.

Ferguson, who has faced criticism throughout his career, remains confident in his abilities. "People have got opinions, but I know I can do the job," he stated in an interview with BBC Scotland. He emphasized the importance of clarity and urgency in determining the team's future leadership, especially with the new season approaching.

Despite the disappointment of not securing three points against Celtic, Ferguson praised his players' commitment and mentality. "The mentality is there," he said, highlighting the need for consistency, an area where the team has struggled this season.

However, not everyone is convinced of Ferguson's long-term prospects. Former Rangers striker Steven Thompson expressed doubts, pointing out the inconsistency in the team's performance under Ferguson's interim leadership. Thompson believes that the focus should now shift to the anticipated investment and the appointment of a permanent manager to steer the team forward.

As the season reaches its climax, the Rangers' faithful are eager for clarity on the managerial front and are hopeful for a more successful campaign next year.
