Georgia Hall Shines While Nelly Korda Struggles at Chevron Championship 2025
Georgia Hall leads the charge at the Chevron Championship 2025, while defending champion Nelly Korda faces a tough start in the first women's golf major of the season.

Georgia Hall made an impressive start at the Chevron Championship 2025, finishing the first round just four shots off the lead. Hall, representing England, carded a solid three-under 69 in Texas, positioning herself well in the first women's golf major of the season. Meanwhile, Nelly Korda, the defending champion and world number one, struggled significantly, ending the day with a five-over 77, leaving her 12 shots behind the leaders.
Haeran Ryu of South Korea and Yan Liu from China share the lead after both players shot bogey-free rounds of seven under par. They hold a two-shot advantage over Hyo Joo Kim, also from South Korea. The day's play was interrupted by a late storm, with 24 players unable to complete their rounds.
Korda, who secured her fifth consecutive LPGA Tour victory at this event last year, faced a challenging start this time. She made bogeys on four consecutive holes and was four over par after just six holes. Despite her past success, Korda could not find her rhythm on Thursday.
Hall, on the other hand, started strong with successive birdies on the back nine. Although she encountered a few bogeys, she managed to finish the round on a high note with three more birdies in her final eight holes.
Other notable performances include Gemma Dryburgh of Scotland, who carded a level-par 72 despite a double-bogey on her penultimate hole. Charley Hull, England's top-ranked player, was two under after four holes but a triple-bogey on her last hole saw her finish with a 75. Lottie Woad, the world number one amateur, also ended the day on three over par.
The Chevron Championship continues to be a thrilling event, with top players vying for the prestigious title. Stay tuned for more updates as the tournament progresses.
