James Anderson Eager to Join The Hundred: A New Chapter in Cricket Legend's Career

Cricket legend James Anderson expresses his eagerness to play in The Hundred after entering the draft, marking a new chapter post his Test retirement.

James Anderson, England's all-time leading wicket-taker, is set to embark on a new chapter in his illustrious cricket career. After retiring from Test cricket last year, the 42-year-old fast bowler has expressed a strong desire to participate in The Hundred, entering the draft for the first time.

Anderson, who will continue to play county cricket for Lancashire in the upcoming season, previously bypassed The Hundred to concentrate on red-ball cricket. However, his recent entry into the draft on 12 March signals a shift in focus.

In a candid discussion on the Tailenders podcast, Anderson shared his enthusiasm for the tournament. "I have watched The Hundred closely. I've commentated on it, talked to people who have played in it, and I would love to experience it," he said. Despite acknowledging the uncertainty of being selected, Anderson remains optimistic. "If it doesn't happen, it doesn't happen. I know it's not guaranteed I'll get picked up, but I am realistic and just eager to play cricket."

Anderson plans to participate in the T20 Blast this summer with Lancashire, regardless of his Hundred draft outcome. His passion for the game remains undiminished, as he revealed, "I went to Old Trafford for a bowl and went to bed that night thinking about bowling the next day. I am just buzzing to play cricket."

Having last played white-ball cricket during a One-Day Cup semi-final for Lancashire in 2019, and his most recent T20 match dating back to the 2014 Blast final, Anderson's inclusion in The Hundred could bring a fresh wave of excitement to the tournament.
