Mack Hansen Commits Future to Ireland and Connacht with New Two-Year Deal

Mack Hansen signs a two-year contract with Ireland and Connacht, securing his place in Irish rugby until 2027.

Mack Hansen has officially extended his commitment to Irish rugby by signing a new two-year contract with the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU). The deal ensures his presence with both the Ireland national team and Connacht until the conclusion of the 2026-27 season.

Hansen, 26, originally from Australia, joined Connacht in 2021 as an Irish-qualified player and quickly made an impact. Since his international debut in February 2022, he has earned 27 caps for Ireland, scoring 12 tries. His performance in his debut season was so impressive that he was nominated for the World Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year award.

"Since moving to Ireland, I have loved my time and I'm delighted to sign this new contract," Hansen said. "I'd like to thank the IRFU for putting their faith in me and I'm hugely excited about the future."

David Humphreys, IRFU's performance director, praised Hansen's contributions. "Securing Mack's signature over the coming season is a huge boost for Irish rugby. He is a proven performer, someone who wears his heart on his sleeve and delivers on the big occasion."

Hansen played a crucial role in Ireland's Six Nations Grand Slam victory in 2023 and remains a key player as the team aims to replicate that success this season. Ireland's next Six Nations match is scheduled for this Saturday against France.

This contract extension highlights Hansen's importance to both Ireland and Connacht, reinforcing his status as a vital player in Irish rugby.
