Hannah Jones Continues as Wales Captain Under New Head Coach Sean Lynn

Hannah Jones retains her role as Wales captain under new head coach Sean Lynn, leading the team in the upcoming Women’s Six Nations and Rugby World Cup.

Hannah Jones Retains Wales Captaincy

Hannah Jones has been confirmed as the Wales captain under new head coach Sean Lynn. The 60-cap centre, who has led Wales since the 2023 Women’s Six Nations, will continue in her role for this year’s championship and the Rugby World Cup in England.

Leadership Group Expansion

Scrum-half Keira Bevan and flanker Alex Callender have been appointed as vice-captains as part of Lynn’s strategy to expand the leadership group. Jones, who also plays under Lynn at Gloucester-Hartpury, expressed her gratitude and commitment to the role.

A Winning Mentality

"Being Wales captain is always a privilege and an honour you never take for granted," said Jones. "I know Sean well. He drives standards on and off the pitch, and is a winner and a great coach."

Lynn’s Vision for Wales

Lynn, who succeeded Ioan Cunningham in January, will join the Wales squad full-time after completing the Premiership Women’s Rugby (PWR) season with Gloucester-Hartpury, who are aiming for a third consecutive title.

Building a Strong Team Culture

"I know how much being Wales captain means to Hannah," said Lynn. "She is somebody who wants to win and has been a mainstay at centre for club and country. Leadership is crucial, and I have worked with three national captains who all set high standards and drive team culture."

Family-Oriented Team Culture

Lynn emphasized the importance of a family-oriented team culture, stating, "The Wales team culture will be one where we all care for each other, but we will also challenge each other to be our best."

Upcoming Fixtures

Wales will begin their Six Nations campaign with an away match against Scotland on Saturday, 22 March.
