Brendan Rodgers Commits to Celtic's Future Despite No Contract Talks

Brendan Rodgers reaffirms his commitment to Celtic FC, focusing on the club's success in the Champions League and domestic competitions, despite no recent contract discussions.

Brendan Rodgers, the esteemed manager of Celtic FC, has recently expressed his contentment with his current role at the club. Despite the absence of discussions regarding a contract extension, Rodgers remains focused on achieving European and domestic success.

Rodgers' Current Stance and Future Plans

Rodgers, whose current contract runs until the end of the 2025/26 season, has not yet engaged in talks about extending his tenure. When queried about the potential impact of Celtic's journey to the Champions League play-off round on his decision to stay, Rodgers emphasized the club's priorities over his personal prospects.

"We've not really had any conversation around that," he stated. "What we'll always look at here is what's the very best thing for Celtic? Above any individual will always be what's right for Celtic."

Past Achievements and Future Ambitions

Having won a total of 10 trophies with Celtic and eyeing a domestic treble this season, Rodgers is no stranger to success at the club. His initial departure in the 2018-19 season and subsequent return in 2023 have marked significant chapters in his managerial career.

Rodgers highlighted the need for a stronger squad to enhance Celtic's performance in European competitions, acknowledging the club's support in this area. He remains optimistic about the future, hoping to build on the current squad's capabilities and financial prudence.

"The club have been fantastic that way in terms of providing that. We've shown what we can do and all within the finances of the club. Hopefully, going forward, we can continue to push that way."

Setting Standards and Looking Ahead

Rodgers aims to set higher standards for Celtic, particularly in European competitions. He believes that consistent performances could lead to advancement to the last 16 or even the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

"We've set the standards for the next steps going forward. If we can perform like we did then there's no reason why you can't then move on to the last 16 or a quarter-final but that's all obviously part of the plan going forward."

Despite the uncertainty regarding his future at Celtic, Rodgers remains committed to the club's success, focusing on finishing the season strongly and setting up the team for future achievements.
