Florida Gators to Showcase Retro Uniforms in Homecoming Clash Against Mississippi State
The Florida Gators will wear retro uniforms for their homecoming game against Mississippi State, reviving a classic look from the 1970s.

For one night this October, the Florida Gators will take a nostalgic trip back to the 1970s. On October 18, during their homecoming game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs, the Gators will don their retro alternate uniforms, last seen in 2021. This classic look features a blue jersey with a two-toned shoulder stripe pattern of orange and white, paired with an orange helmet showcasing the old-school interlocking "UF" logo.
A Winning Tradition
According to GatorsOnline, the Gators have an undefeated record when wearing throwback uniforms in homecoming games, a streak that dates back to 2006. The last time they sported these uniforms, they dominated Vanderbilt with a 42-0 victory in 2021.
Coach Napier's Perspective
When asked about the team's thoughts on the retro uniforms during his Monday media availability, Coach Billy Napier kept the focus on performance rather than fashion.
"I don't know that I've heard one comment about it," Napier said. "Maybe I'll let you know next time we meet. But look. Uniforms are nice. Uniforms are good. Looking good is nice; playing better is nicer. So, I hope [the players] are worried about how they play, not what they're wearing."
A Classic Look Returns
The retro uniforms offer a simplistic twist on the Gators' iconic blue and orange color scheme, blending nostalgia with modern performance. Fans are eagerly anticipating this throwback game, which promises to be a memorable event in the 2025 NCAAF season.
Social Media Buzz
The announcement has already sparked excitement on social media, with the official Florida Gators Football Twitter account sharing a sneak peek of the uniforms.
