Under the leadership of Rassie Erasmus, SA Rugby has implemented programs like the Early Player Development (EPD) to identify and nurture talent from a young age. Sean Erasmus, head coach at Paarl Boys' High, noted the impact of these initiatives: "Rassie created a mobile high-performance unit, which made the whole system so much better."

Breaking Barriers

The Cape Winelands continues to dominate, but the current Springbok squad also includes players from less traditional backgrounds. Kurt-Lee Arendse, who attended Paulus Joubert Secondary School, is a testament to the region's ability to produce homegrown talent beyond the elite schools.
