WELLESLEY, Mass. — The Boston Fleet have officially announced Kris Sparre as their new head coach, marking a significant shift in the team's leadership. Sparre, a seasoned assistant with a robust background in the AHL and international leagues, steps into the role following Courtney Kessel's departure to Princeton.

Sparre, 38, brings a wealth of experience from his nine-year playing career and his coaching stints in the OHL, AHL, and Austria's top league. His most recent role was with the San Diego Gulls, the AHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, where he honed his skills in balancing player development with competitive success.

"Boston is a city with a rich sports heritage, and I am thrilled to contribute to the Fleet's journey towards becoming a perennial championship contender," Sparre remarked. His appointment comes at a crucial time as the team looks to fill the void left by Hilary Knight, the team's former captain and MVP finalist, who was drafted by Seattle.

Danielle Marmer, the Fleet's general manager, expressed confidence in Sparre's ability to foster a growth-oriented environment. "Kris’s approach to coaching, which emphasizes strong relationships and clear communication, aligns perfectly with our team’s needs," Marmer stated.
